Our Mission
At Ranch dei Lupi we want to share our love for horseback riding and the great outdoors in an unspoiled environment surrounded by the beauty of nature. We know that life and its beauty depends on how wisely we use these gifts: The Soil, The Water, The Air, The Minerals, The Plant Life, and The Wildlife. We believe in "being one with nature" versus "overcoming nature" and like to demonstrate how to conserve our planet by respecting and not abusing the life in nature, animals, plants, and our fellow human beings. In the spirit of this Earth Philosophy, we help our guests to reconnect themselves with the earth and also awaken their awareness for means to save Mother Earth. Our promise is to offer an adventure vacation with a philosophy that celebrates life and generates joy and excitement. We invite our guests to become part of our Ranch family and leave with memories of a great vacation that will last a lifetime.
Riding
At Ranch dei Lupi, horses, cowboys, and the Western American ranching traditions are front and center in many of the activities. After all, this is what ranch vacations are all about. If you want to celebrate life in a fun way that generates joy and excitement, you will find plenty of opportunity to do just that at Ranch dei Lupi.
We start with a Horse Orientation, during which we will assign you a horse and saddle. If this horse matches your riding abilities, it is yours for your stay - otherwise we will continue to fit you with a suitable mount. Once the two of you have an understanding we will take a Ride that will allow you to get to know your horse and the Ranch better before our evening Rides into the mountains.
We have a horse for every type of rider. For slow riders, we have slow horses; for fast riders, we have fast horses; for those who have never ridden before, we have horses that have never been ridden before; and for those who don't like to ride, we also have horses that don't like to be ridden!
Group Bookings
Family, high school, and college reunions as well as weddings have been just a few of the many reasons for group bookings at Wolf's Ranch (Ranch dei Lupi). Any type of group from private, corporate or incentive bookings find the ranch with its intimate nature a true hideaway. With over 30 different activities to choose from you will find something for everyone in your group. Our programs are carefully designed to offer fun regardless of age or physical condition. For every riding opportunity, we have several non-riding alternatives available simultaneously. At times there are up to five different activities from which to choose. For groups who book the entire Ranch, we will work with you and customize the program, activities, and meals for your occasion.
To book the entire ranch during May, June, September, and October the fee is based on the published rate for a minimum of +-10 guests and requires at least a two-night stay. From December through February our winter program is available for group bookings of eight or more with a minimum of a two-night stay. We offer discounts to groups of 15 people or more. Group discounts are based on size, length of stay, time of year, and any special activities your group requires. Discounts are not available during July and August or for bookings arranged through a travel agent at any time.
The American Style of horseriding
We are convinced that this is the most comfortable style of travelling by horse.
An American saddle on a well-trained and reliable horse offers to a rider, even with little experience, the possibility to enjoy the riding and the surroundings, since a maximum of security is always guaranteed and you can be sure the fun will not be left out. The American style of horse-riding is especially appropriate for long excursions, you will find the gaits more comfortable, and at the end of the day you will not feel exhausted but only a little tired, though highly satisfied.
The structure of the American saddle distributes the weight of the rider on a greater area of the horse's back than the English saddle. The centre of gravity lies further down, making the ride easier for horse and rider.
The collaboration of a horse trained in the American style helps us in many situations and the communication established is surprisingly good.
Our Horses
We own about 20 Quarterhorses that come from our own stables. Our horses live in different herds in big pastures throughout the year. Many of them have been working a long time for us and make part of our family.
The reliability and the security of the horses make it easy for you to deal with even the most difficult situations like steep slopes or the fording of a river.
The Saddles
Each horse has its own saddle, bridle and saddlebags for trekking.
The American saddles come from North America and are of good quality, suitable for daily use. For the guest who requests an English saddle, we have a sufficient supply.

The training of the horses
We are specialised in the American style for our country rides and the different levels that make up this style.
The horses are mainly trained by Fabio. He’s very fond of his “NATURAL WESTERN” training system. First of all we teach our horses to be at ease with people and only then do we teach them the various gaits of outdoor riding: amble, jog, trot, canter, gallop, backwards, sideways, lead-changing, cross-over, jump and to cross water.
A large part of the training is held outside the ring. Thus the horse may gather a lot of experience for daily life. At the end of the training period, the young horse will participate in a trekking excursion and will live through situations which are not given in its daily environment.
The Lessons
During our lessons we focus more or less on the same matters as we do when training the young horses. Thus the pupil may try out what he has learned enjoying himself in the open.
From the beginning the rider learns to feel the horse and its movements and to communicate with him using body language.
This way of communicating makes it possible, even for the beginner, to ride using the basic gaits – amble, trot and gallop – within one week.
Part of the lesson is held during the trailrides. This way we teach our guests the basic methods to handle all situations that require security and that are of major importance during a trekking. Our lessons and its objectives are based on 20 years of experience and hundreds of people who became good riders can prove this.
